The League 'SHAMBHALA' 2007

PG League „SHAMBHALA” is organized by „Shambhala Paragliding club”.

Competition main Headquarters will be at the Bottom station of chair lift “SHAMBHALA” - GPS coordinates: WGS 84 Lat/Lon: N 42 39.846 E 24 44.841.
 

LOCATION

1. The competition flights will take place in the region of the mountain chain Stara Planina, in the region of Sopot - south exposition, the difference of the altitudes and the start point above the valley is 800 meters.

2. Sopot – city located 140 km East from Sofia and 50 km North from Plovdiv


ENTRY

1. Each competitor will be requested to present proof of insurance.

2. Each competitor will be requested to present a valid FAI Sporting License.

3. The equipment of each competitor must include: paraglider, harness, rescue parachute, helmet and GPS.

4. Each competitor will be requested to sign the Waiver Declaration (agreement on release of liability)


ENTRY FEE

1. The Pilot Entry fee is 20 Euro per each Round.

2. Entry fee includes:

   --- Rescue service;

   --- Full transport service to the take off;

   ---XC retrieves along main roads;

   --- GPS download;

   --- Color map;

   --- ID card;

   --- Pilot souvenir T-shirt;

   --- Lunch packet;

   --- Free Wi Fi Internet in HQ.

3. Entry fee payments will be made at the registration.


GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

1. PG League „SHAMBHALA” include 5 Rounds.

2. Each Round consists of 2 competition days (tasks).

3. The Tasks are: Race to goal, Elapsed time speed run, Open distance in a sector.

4. Only valid GPS track log will be considered as true evidence for evaluate. To be considered as valid, the track log must satisfy the following criteria:

   - - The track log must show at least 1 minute of data and at least 5 continuous track log points prior to and after start.

   - - Temporal switch off of the device up to 5 min. is accepted.

   - - The track log must show at least 1 track log point inside the cylinder sector of each route turn point.

   - - Immediately after landing and before any movement on the ground GPS must be switched off or have their tracklog recording set to “off”.

5. For scoring the Race 2003 scoring program will be used and scoring formula will be GAP 2000. The flight verification software will be Compe GPS.

6. GAP Parameters: 

   - - Minimum Distance: 7 km.

   - - Nominal Distance: 40 km.

   - - Nominal Goal 10% of pilots

   - - Nominal Time: 1.5 hrs

7. The maximum wind speed at the take off is 25 êì/h

8. Cloud flying is prohibited and the penalty is zero scored for the task.

Cloud flying is considered as a cheating on other pilots. On arriving at the cloud wisps the pilots must demonstrate clearly his/her intention to leave from ascending air, otherwise he will receive 0 points for the task.

9. The Goal – virtual line 200 meters long each side of the GPS goal coordinates and perpendicular of the previous turn point.

10. During the flight all the pilots must be on the “Safety Frequency” and must not transmit on this frequency except for safety reasons.

11. In case of the cancellation of the task this will be announced on the “Safety Frequency” exclusively by the Meet Director. The MD is the only person authorized to cancel or stop a task in progress, for emergency. After landing pilots must change their radio from the Safety Frequency to the Retrieval Frequency

   - - Safety Frequency: 145.225 MHz

   - - Retrieval Frequency: 145.275 MHz

12. Stopping of a task – the Meet director can cancel or stop a task if the weather becomes hazardous for safety reasons. When a task is stopped but not cancelled, the pilot’s scores will be determined from their GPS track log position at the accurate time when the task is stopped. The task will be scored only if it is Race to Goal and over 60 minutes have elapsed since the opening of the start gate.

13. It is obligatory for the pilots to report safe landing by telephone call or SMS to MD.

1. The final ranking will be counted by accumulation of all the valid task results of each pilot.

2. The prize money fund is 1000 Euro.

   - 100 Euro – ² Female ranking

   - 11:30 – Task Briefing

   - 12:00 - 18:00 – Competition Flights

   - 19:00 - 21:00 – GPS consignment & report back in the HQ

   - 21.00 - Unofficial results

   - Until 8.00 at the next day – deadline for complaints &protests


Saturday –Competition day

   - 10:00 - 10:30 – Briefing and Official results

   - 10:30 - 11:00 – Transportation to the Take Off

   - 11:30 – Task Briefing

   - 12:00 - 18:00 – Competition Flights

   - 18:00 – 19:30 – GPS consignment & report back in the HQ

   - 20:00 – Official results

   - 20:30 – Prize giving ceremony & PARTY!!!
