On August, 31st, 2007 in Turkey at annual session of Committee of Paragliding World Cup Association has been approved the candidature of Bulgaria for carrying out in 2008 of the Paragliding World Cup in Sopot in territory of the European center of extreme sports "SHAMBHALA".

The organizer of the competition is the European center "SHAMBHALA" under the auspices of Municipality of Sopot, the Bulgarian National Aeroclub and paragliding clubs of Bulgaria.

For the organization of the World Cup per 2008  the pre World Cup has been organized in July, 2007. The organization was at a very high level and received the highest rating among the commission which observed the organization
 
In territory of Bulgaria it will be already the second Paragliding World Cup. The strongest pilots will take part in the competition from all over the World, including Canada, Japan, South Korea, the United States and Latin America.

For the first time in history of the World Cup for pilots free-of-charge accommodation at hotels, the cultural program and prize-winning fund 15 000 euros will be organized.
